  • White people:
Why I don’t fuck with the environmentalists/animal rights activists

I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. Animal cruelty is bad. Yap. I don’t abuse animals. I love em. I care for animals. I treat my cat-friend as a queen but here’s my issues:

Most of the animal rights activists I meet are white. Whitey white and I feel like the whole white identity crisis has something to do with it (bare with me as I work this out.) I’m referring to the identity crisis that happens as a result of whiteness and multiculturalism. More on that here (page 94 - in the context of appropriation and swing) and here and in this book. This lack of identity obviously plays a role in white actions. I feel it specifically plays a role in what social issues white people choose to take on. I feel like they have to try to fight for environmental justice/animal rights because they can control that movement without being forced to recognize their privilege. They must answer to no one.

This might have something to do with the REALLY FUCKING OFFENSIVE approaches they take (I’m thinking hypermasculine deep ecology or the ever-so patriarchal eco-fem or Anti-human people in PETA.) This bothers me but it needs a lot more working out.

Anyways, I’m fucking poor. Until about middle school, my family was like dirt poor. We’re still struggling and as I’m coming into adulthood, I’m going to be struggling more. I can’t eat the healthy eco-friendly/green/animal-rights friendly/vegan way that these people expect me to. Sometimes we can barely afford our house or groceries. I try to do the best I can, but I don’t think it’s okay to demonize those who have a lack of accessibility or resources. It’s a lot cheaper for me to eat the way I have been than the way you do.

Also relevant, FUCK YALL. I know damn well yall don’t give a damn about my people’s struggles specifically. I’ll give you vegetarians and vegans a small lesson on where ya’lls precious fruits n vegetables from the store come from. Majority of the fruits and vegetables grown here in these beautiful 48 contiguous states are grown and picked by migrant workers. Migrant workers are usually illegal immigrants or children of illegal immigrants from mexico that are employed for SUUUUUPER CHEAP. You all are so eager to quit eating meat because of treatment of animals but you’ll buy vegetables from the store EVEN THOUGH SHIT LIKE THIS HAPPENS. Even though the migrant working people are living on under $1 a day, don’t receive basic healthcare because of state requirements, live in shacks where they develop nasty diseases like TB and work in dangerous conditions that frequently kill them, you don’t give a damn. Even though there are children working in dangerous conditions instead of going to school, you don’t give one single fuck. If you want me to support dat shit you care so much about, show me your knowledge on Chican@s and migrant workers. Show me your fucking cardboard sign. Show me the garden where you grow your own vegetables. Show me why I as a Chicana woman should give a fuck about social issues that you are oh so passionate about when you obviously do not give any fucks about the brown people.

ggeowizard: YES I UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE. Thats what I was trying to say. The whole thing is that I wanted to say that ALL people of ALL races have been racially discriminated at some point or another. Some more extreme than others, for sure. But I think we all need to come together to fight this instead of fighting over who was discriminated more. Everytime I tried to say something on her blog, I fucked up and worded it all wrong and people freaked out.

Right. So, if you understand the difference, you should understand that you are not racially oppressed. You may be discriminated against but you do not experience a systematic oppression. You will never experience a system that tells you (and everyone around you) from birth to hate you because of the amount of melanin you have; a system uses every tool to keep you on bottom.

To be an ally, to get people to work with you, you have to recognize your privilege and be understanding of people’s anger. This is centuries of violence and oppression on PoC’s shoulders that is being expressed. You have gotta understand that people will question you because of your privilege. People will be iffy because of their actual experiences. Even if you arent racist, you are apart of the group that participates in these acts. Instead of condemning the anger of PoC, collect other white people who are being racist. Briana doesn’t hate white people. She’s not being racist. She hates the system of whiteness and the fact that white people who commit violent acts aint bein checked for it. To be an ally, you have got to be quiet and let this anger be expressed.

(Published for the records. I’m not repeating this shit.)

Jonatha Carr and the non-black PoC role in Trayvon Martin’s death

Everything that needs to be said about Jonatha Carr

It’s so fucking easy for any non-black to pass judgment on her or any other black person in a similar situation. “She’s psycho.” “She shouldn’t have gotten that angry. What’s that gonna solve?”
Other PoC, we need to not pass judgment. We should be there for support. Trayvon’s death, as horrible as it is, is not something new to us. America has witnessed multiple similar hate crimes throughout history. This fucking nation was built on racism so wtf should we expect? We have similar struggles, but even as we are PoC, we still do not understand what it is like to be black in this society (and even worse, Jonatha experiencing all the hatred in the goddamn world for being a black woman with anger). We will never understand.

Also, white people you just need sit quiet and learn. Don’t think we ain’t side-eyeing the shit out of you in your hoodies. You aren’t all Trayvon. You don’t even have a clue what it is like to feel the anger Jonatha felt. You need to recognize that massive privilege ya got there and use it to educate.

Does anyone know anything about this FAU student whom the police tasered and arrested after a tangent in class?

A black female apparently was asking questions during a lecture on evolution about her race being killed and (i would assume sarcastically to make her point) evolution playing a role in it. Its hard to hear what she’s saying on the video, but some are saying she was threatening to kill some students. She pointed out some white students and ended up hitting a professor. They said she mentioned Trayvon Martin at one point.

I’m seriously angry about her classmate passing judgment on her mental health over it. I want to know what happened. I hope someone interviews her.

Here’s the video and some commentary:

One of my friends posted a status on fb about immigration reform

Then some stupid, old, white bitch comes in like ‘omgz; cause they pull the race card and call conservatives xenophobic, but all we want is to be fair and keep out UNDESIRABLES’

I’m instantly fucking angry. I want to punch a wall. UN FUCKING DESIRABLES. She says like “child molestors and felons.”

I want to address a couple of things.

1. Immigration laws ARE based on racist and xenophobic views. They have been and will always be targeted at “them dirty brown folks,” but you know, I’m sure the southwestern state governments don’t mean it when they make laws that make it so essentially Latin@s have to have their birth certificate on them all times, right?

2. I’m trying to understand what is more unfair here… trying to make a better life for yourself and your family by moving out of a country stricken by poverty and constant violence ASAP because the laws here are inefficient. Or the fact that America takes it’s hegemonic bs in Mexico and other Latin American areas, steals resources and forces them into more poverty and then tries to tighten immigration laws so they are stuck there. Sorry, not everyone has the privilege of being born white and in America or northern Europe.

3. WTF. Is undesirables.. bitch, your fucking people who came here from Europe were “undesirables” That’s what your shit is built on so I don’t wanna hear it. All you’re doing is stereotyping people and making excuses.

People fucking think this. I’m seeing red.
